Finally...well almost

After sitting on the runway for an hour and then a 14 hour flight, I finally made it to China. I met a guy at the airport from NY that helped me by calling my hotel and getting the directions in Chinese. He also took the cab with me to the hotel and told the driver to pick me up at 5:30am for my flight tomorrow to Wuhan. I thought he might have wanted money or something, but I guess he was just being nice. He said, "he knows how it is to be in a strange city where you don't know the language." I just finished exploring the area around my hotel, it is close to the Beijing train station. I ate KFC for dinner (yeah, I know, I could have eaten that in NY), but it was very different from our KFC. Bad News...I left my USB cable for my camera at home. I don't know how I did that, but remembered to bring 15 pairs of sneakers. I guess I was more concerned with my fashions in China. I have taken a couple of pictures already, like of the Chinese toilet (very interesting). My hotel room has a western style toilet, so I haven't had the experience of using the Chinese toilet yet. So far, so good. I am getting a lot of stares and "Ni Haos." I wanted you guys to see my haircut, but I can't show it to you until I get a USB cord. Since I always have to be professionally dressed, I never get the opportunity to do something different, so this time I did. Don't worry it's not a mohawk. Pictures to come soon..

Hi Rob,

Seems like you are already enjoying yourself and exploring. I am dying to see that haircut, so send the pics soon. I know you will learn a lot, and teach those people great english. Keep me posted.

Be Safe!

Robert,

You could have taken a week long trip to China Town. You would have found your Asian self and everything else, some cheap Rolex, and some Loafers. You would have gotten bags and watches to bring back (all brand names). Hey what about your hair? OMG…..you’ve got a problem.

OK......that's enough! I hope you have a safe flight and that this summer allows you to find your true Asian self. May this summer bring with it many blessings for you and yours (minus the heat).

God's speed my friend!
